headstock badging

$

This may be a question for Dave R. but anyone else in the know can feel free to chip in. If I were to order a custom shop ESP today (or in the future), could I specifically request the old style badging on the back of the headstock....ie. the circular ESP Custom Guitars logo versus the new ESP Custom logo with the continental map? Or am I locked in to the new style logo?

Importing a new ESP from UK to USA

Hello. Have seen some threads in the past regarding importing of guitars thru various ports but didn't see anything to specifially address my waypoints. I am looking at potentially buying a new ESP from a dealer in the UK. Are there any shipping methods that are preferable over the other in the interest of avoiding customs and duties hassles?

For example, I have purchased 2 guitars from Canada. The first one when the seller tried to ship to me via FedEx we ran into a ton of roadblocks but then he shipped it with Purolator who turned it over to UPS and there were no problems, it got here quickly and with no ppw or duties due. THe second time the seller shipped via postal service and again no problems whatsoever.

Am curious to find out the recommended courier from the UK. I am more concerned with the fact this is a Japanese guitar. If I was importing a Fender or Gibson, I believe those would be exempt from duties since they are MFG in the US..

The value of the guitar is <$2,300 USD.

ESP KH-2 SE Greenburst for sale

Hey everybody. I am most likely going to be selling a KH-2 SE limited edition greenburst, but wanted to see what sort of interest there is on the forum before I stick it on Reverb and Feebay. As you are probably aware it is a 2011 model, but it is in excellent shape. It has only been played sparingly as I have enough guitars to rotate around a lot. There were 100 units released and as far as I am aware, only 35 came to the US. I currently have 2 in possession which is 5% of the US supply and I just don't feel right about that haha.

I prefer to sell within the US than do a foreign transaction, but may reconsider. I am based in Las Vegas, but if you were in LA or Phoenix, I would be open to possibly meeting half way versus shipping or could do local pickup as well. Anyway, stay tuned for pictures and let me know if you are interested.

KH-2 Vintage being discontinued?

I was talking to someone today who is selling a 2013 KH-2 Vintage. He stated ESP had advised him that 2013 was going to be the last of the Vintage model and it would be discontinued by ESP. Can Dave R. or someone verify this information? I know I haven't ever seen one with a 2014 serial number or newer, but it is still listed on the website as a current model. Too bad if so, it's a nice guitar. Possibly overpriced as used ones don't seem to command much value.

Looking for 2012 KH-DC in STB?

Hello. Does anyone know if the KH-DC was produced in See Thru Black back in 2012 when it was still a SS serial numbered model? I have a red one and wouldn't mind adding a black one for alternate tunings but the only see thru black one I have seen "live" was a 2013 and that was K serial numbered. I would be more interested in an SS due to the price difference.

Vintage Plus - string guage

Just wanted to double check what the OEM string guage is for the Vintage Plus series. I assume it is 10-46 but wanted to make sure as the ESP string chart says 10-46 for non trem models and 9-42 for trem models. The vintage plus does have a trem but was thinking they probably opt for the heavier string on a vintage non Floyd bridge. Does anyone know for sure?

The 2009 Ouija Project

This might sound crazy but I am interested in starting a cataloging project revolving arround the 2009 Ouija Reissue series. No particular reason why other than I have been fascinated by this guitar ever since owning a neck thru one back in the mid-90s and it is my favorite guitar of all time. Supposedly there were 50 black ones and 50 white ones re-released (I believe there may be a couple fo protos floating around as well). I own White #7 myself and am in Las Vegas. I would like to start a spreadsheet to record the series unit # and location to see what sort of distribution there is of these guitars around the globe. I also thought it might be kind of interesting to communicate with other owners of this rare beast and the history surrounding their guitar/purchase. For example I am the second owner of mine. I purchased it from a nice fellow in the Los Angeles area. He appears to have purchased it new from Washington Music in Wheaton, Maryland.

If any other owners on here want to reach out to me, please either post here or add me as a friend/shoot me a PM to communicate more privately if you prefer. Like Steelsedge, If I recall you, have a white one. Would love to collect more details!

NGD but not ESP

Just got this guitar this morning. Not an ESP but every bit as good. Custom order Tom Anderson Pro Am. Black & White bowling ball finish, swamp ash body, pau ferro fingerboard. Took 6 months but worth the wait. Absolutely flawless craftsmanship. Can't wait to play it later tonight. Also I am hoping to visit the workshop next week when I am in LA.

ESP KH-DC question

I am curious to find out if the KH-DC was ever produced in the see-thru black color during its initial 2012 run with an SS serial number. I have been thinking of purchasing one but the only real one I have ever seen was a 2013. I am more interested in the 2012s because of the lower prices and lack of a first fret inlay (makes it more similar to the String and Things Les Paul Double Cutaway it was modeled after) but wasn't sure if they even exist in that model year in the black format. I already have the red version so not looking for one of those.

And this time not as good. Gibson Historic 1957 Les Paul VOS in a rare pelham blue (back and sides, not just the top). Disasspointed. Neck is too beefy. Guess I am used to the slim 60's necks. Also set up from the dealer sucked and the craftsman ship and attention to detail just wasnt there. Oh well, back it goes. Will stick with my ESPs and Tom Anderson, though wouldn;t mind trying a PRS. Have always been curious about those.

Factory Tours?

I was curious if ESP offers any factory tours at their North Hollywood location? Yesterday I was in North L.A. and took a tour of the Tom Anderson Guitarworks factory in Newbury Park. It was a lot smaller than I anticipated (never having been to a guitar factory) but it was awesome to see how they assemble their guitars. Tom himself took time out of his afternoon to walk me through the entire process from incoming lumber and wood billets onwards to planing and painting...all way through final testing and their photo studio. I also got to chat with his right hand man Roy about some of their new social media plans and both of them personally signed my guitar's spec sheet and they hooked me up with a free t-shirt to boot. Everyone there was super cool!!

I am wondering if ESP does anything similar. I know they are a bigger company so I am not looking for a guided tour from Matt or anything like that but yesterday was a great chance for me to ask a lot of questions about both my particular guitar, and guitar building in general and I learned a lot. I would like to do the same if possible with ESP since I own a lot more ESP guitars and also have a lot of questions I would love to ask them.

Couldn't find the info I needed searching the forums so thought I would ask. I am looking for a set of the flat black (not black nickel) dome knobs to fit a KH-2 series guitar. Does anyone happen to know the part number? I want to ensure i get the proper version.

G'Day mates. This beauty just arrived from the land of Oz. Big thanks to Shane at BMusic for hooking me up. N.O.S. 2007 ESP KH-20 #26. Looks more beautiful than I expected. The flame is really 3-dimensional and the back and sides has a nice mellow bronze-ish color due to the stain. Really beautiful and to my luck, this baby was sitting new in its case the last 8 years. I am in the process of getting it set up now...ie. installing straplocks, new strap (KHS-1), new strings, new battery, etc. but will report back later how it compares to the Ouija White. The only thing I know for now is those knobs gotta go!

Anyway special thanks to Shane for making it a smooth and easy transaction. I would love to buy from him again if it makes sense and would highly recommend him to anyone else.

Kirk Hammett straps

Ok so this probably belongs under the Equipment or General Discussions forums but I figured anyone who would be interested is here. I recently ordered the KHS-1 strap from the Kirk Hammett straps site and am pleased. I needed a strap for my new KH-20 and was going to use a Levy's M7GG3 but it didn't seem "clean looking" enough for a special guitar. I have the limited edition ESP KH strap for my KH-2 SE and it is my favorite strap so decided to fork over the money for the KHS-1 since it is virtualy identical with just a different logo. Couldn't be happier with the look and feel plus I have been emailing with Era, the guy that runs the company and he has been quite friendly.

Anyway i did find out he will do custom orders for the custom straps Kirk uses like the RR1985 or the Rock N Roll HOF NYC strap. He said cost is pretty high, around $1K since they are hand stitched but thought I would pass that info along in case any serious collectors are interested in adding some unique straps to their high end KH collections.

Yet another NGD - again not ESP

OK so picked this up...2012 Gibson Les Paul Custom. Got it for about half of what a new one would cost. Pretty much mint with the exception of a a light mark on the back that appears buffable and the case hardware is a little bit tarnished. Had all the original ppw and case candy. Looks great and neck feels fine but it's heavy as hell and the initial playability is shit. May need a heavy duty setup. Plan (if kept) is to drop in some EMGs and black out the hardware. Stay tuned for pics in about a month if I do.

Bootleg Ouija for sale on eBay

KH-4

Just started the process of custom ordering a KH-4 neck thru. Sweetwater is running an awesome promotion of 36 months interest free payments so thought I might as well take advantage of it. I decided to do an ESP 12 fret inlay, EMG 60 in the neck, and black truss rod cover but other than that, pretty similar to the former production model.

Now the KH-3 and black 2009 Ouija are the remaining axes left on my list to complete my Hammett collection.

Made in Japan Sticker

This might sound like an odd request but hoping an ESP Mod might be able to help me. I recently purchased a used ESP made in Japan model. The previous owner peeled off the white rectangular made in Japan sticker from the back of the headstock. How can I go about procuring a new sticker to replace the one removed?

2010 Custom Shop Les Paul Custom to replace the 2012 that didn't work out for me. This one is lighter, has a better case (IMO), and has the real ebony fingerboard, not recycled paper.Anyway the plan is to drop in an EMG H and 81, black Sperzel locking tuners, and a black Tone Pros bridge. Will post pics once that is done (might be a while)

American Vintage '62 Strat. Purchased as a demo from Wilcutt but no visible flaws. Will be dropping in a set of black EMG SAs for that classic Ritchie Blackmore look.
