I was tooling around the net tonight and stumbled upon this picture of what appears to be a 3rd Mummy guitar. As you are probably aware Kirk had 2 original Mummies...one with hieroglyphic inlays and the other with Eye of Horus. This one pictured is also Eye of Horus but what caught my eye is the headstock on this one is mostly red (similar to the hieroglyphic) and seems to have lighter colored logo versus the original Eye of Horus which had a mostly yellow headstock and a darker logo. Furthermore this appears to be a fairly recent pic, yet if you look closely the guitar does not appear to have the weather checking nor the paint scratched off the pickup covers that the original Eye of Horus has.
Is this a potential blip on the radar that ESP is tooling up to finally release a KH-2 Mummy? Similar to when Kirk started receiving more Ouijas prior to the 2009 reissue. 2016 will be the 20th anniversary of the original Mummy guitar so that would be a historic milestone for a release. Just sayin'.
So...potential prototype or one-off replacement??
